Make pull requests control points

Combine structured proposals, required checks, expert review and protected deployment environments.

A reviewable path to acceptance

The infographic shows branch creation, a pull request containing a plan, required review, automated checks and merge after conditions are satisfied. Each stage should leave evidence for the next person or process.

Use complementary controls

A pull request template asks for goals, scope, success criteria, risks and evidence. Required checks can enforce objective conditions. CODEOWNERS routes relevant reviewers; rules must separately require the appropriate approval. Environment protections can gate deployment.

A template by itself does not prevent merge. Likewise, a screenshot of a plan-check script does not prove that the implementation securely validates a plan.

Test the enforcement

Confirm required checks and review rules apply to the intended branches and actors. Review bypass permissions. Verify that a failing check prevents acceptance and that protected deployments require the expected approval.

The pictured action versions, shell snippets and permission examples are conceptual material, not a production-ready workflow to paste into a repository.
