Chapter 12 / 17
Jobs in AI
AI projects need many different skills. There is room for people who enjoy science, design, writing, teaching, and more.
Many roles, one team
Researchers study new ideas, developers build tools, designers make them usable, and safety specialists test for risks.
Bring your own strengths
A doctor might help shape a health tool, while an artist might explore creative tools. Knowing a real-world subject can be as valuable as knowing the technology.
Ravi finds his team role
Ravi loved drawing maps but thought an AI team only needed coders. At a school activity, he joined a group making a route helper for a sports day. He sketched the school paths, while his friend wrote instructions and another classmate checked which routes were safe.
Their different skills helped the team notice a blocked path before the event. Ravi learned that an AI project can need artists, writers, subject experts, testers, and many more. A good team makes room for different strengths.
A real-life example
A team making a sports app could include coaches who know the game, designers who make screens clear, and developers who build the features.
Build a pretend team
- Choose a problem, such as planning a class event.
- Name three different skills that could help.
- Match a person or character to each skill.
- Explain how the team could check its plan.
